Fun with Templates

I have just done a class at Petter Taylor's Sewing Centre with templates. The first one was "splice". It looks lovely made up in striped  fabric. The second one was "Sunburst" I really like this template, I have 3 blocks made. I hope to make it up into a quilt.
Blocks made in the class. The ladies had fun matching up the stripes.
The Drunkards Path was also a class at Peters. This is a 12"block, so it goes together fast. Peter was selling the pre-cut kits at the shop. I have the boarders on and it makes a good size quilt.

Spring is in the air. Most of the plants are flowering. The garden looks really good when a few things start to flower and show a bit of colour.

Orchid look stunning and the flowers last for weeks

The Geese have been sitting on there nest for the last month. We have 3 ladies and 1 man. Last week the grey geese had 2 cute little goslings hatch. They were so cute to watch. You had to keep a eye on dad, he didn't like us any were near them.
We had to go away for a week and while we were away the white geese had 10 baby's arrive. We now have 16 geese.     Boy!!!!
But dad has disappeared. Hopefully he has just gone down to the river for a spell.

Walking home through the truck stop I took this photo. I like all the lines. Great inspiration for a quilt.

The scraps from the quilt I just made. I didn't waist or leave much behind .
All white, cream and grey.
A little peek at the quilt I made.
This quilt is for Nat. He was in my heart the whole time I was working on this quilt.

I wonder were August went

It has just been pointed out to me by my dear friend Bev, that it has been over 5 weeks since I have up dated my blog. Sorry.
But I have been a little busy. Time just seems to get away from you.
Finaly finished a quilt to put in the QLD quilt show. Black & white 9 patch.

August Bev & I had been busy doing the markets with the last of the shop stock. All done & dusted now, got rid of the lot. It sure felt great to see the end of that project. Winter morning, up early & off to the markets is not always fun.

Megan & her new car.  She was suppose to do the jump in the air, like the Toyota adds but she just wouldn't play the game.

Mum arrived for a holiday in the middle of August. Its always great to have Mum come for a holiday. I didn't get much done in the sewing line but we sure did a lots of gardening. Everything this looking lovely. Been a long time since I have been out in the garden working. (Patch Working was taking up all my time) Plus we done lots of talking over cups of tea.
For the last 2 winters mum has been working on a knitted / crochet scarf for me. Its made up of lots off little bit of knitting or crochet. A lot like a crazy patch. Its stunning.
You stitch all the little bits together to make the desired shape then sew flowers & bits & bobs on top of it.
Few of the flowers & bits to be sewn on
Finished back view. The shawl is made from all hand spun and hand dyed wool. And before you ask, yes mum did most of the spinning her self.
Mum showing off her work. Can't wait to wear my new shawl now. The weather has changed and gotten pretty warm so I may have to wait until next year.
I just had to throw this picture in. This is one of the plates of food you receive when you have High Tea at Blossoms.
This is what I work with now, no wonder I cant stay on my diet.
The food is just as yummy as it looks.
Better go. I have my 2nd quilt for the QLD quilt show sitting on the machine waitng to be finished.
